You likely just need to install apache:
$ yum install httpd

Install the httpd
package, start the httpd
service, and then read the page shown when you open localhost in your browser and follow the instructions.

y can't i get it accessed from remote machine... earlier i installed 'eprints' for institutional repository, but stalled with same problem. It was working well on local machine, but couldn't get it accessed from remote machine on LAN with same subnet. I disables SElinux too, set httpd to the trusted service. but all in vain.\ Feb 21, 2012 at 6:29
Try look in here /usr/local/httpd
or
/usr/local/apache2
Good luck.

Execute, ps ax, and try to see in the display if the process httpd is running, if so, try to find for the httpd.conf file, and there you will find the working directory for the main web app.– GersonOFeb 21, 2012 at 6:21
