Am getting error as show below. It was working fine with no issues but recently started taking long time in query execution and connection:

Cannot connect to <serverName>.

Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

So, what is your exact question? Did you look at the given help link for Error Number -2? It would also help if you stated what has changed since it was working.

Either there is a firewall between you and the SQL server or you have the server name wrong.

Can you telnet to port 1433 (or whatever port SQL is listening on)?
