Here is my setup: Host: Vista home premium, 32bit vm server 2.0 guest OS: fedora core 9

My problem: I access the vm server via SSH and the web browser from other computers on the network. If the vmserver is not accessed for 5minutes or longer, it takes about 5 seconds for it to respond when someone tries to access it. I've gone into the power management section on the server and made sure that power management is turned off.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

edit:

The host has 2gigs, and the guest server has 400mb.

The only purpose of the vmserver is to run a webserver what will never be accessed by more than 2 computers. Really light tasking. Should I increase the memory for the vmserver?

The Vista machine (host) will handle regular tasks that the average home users would run... Office, web browsing, maybe some photo shop, etc...

Should I increase the memory size for the guest? In the meantime I'll go ahead and increase it to 600mb to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks!

How much memory is involved? Is the Vista system doing anything else? It sounds to me like the VM is getting (partially) swapped out when it becomes idle, which means you have to wait for it to get swapped back in when you want it. – David Mackintosh Jan 11 '10 at 13:05
