I have a mac server that is bound to my windows domain and the mac is running doveco/postfix on snow leopard. I can log into it from Outlook using IMAP. When I do that is it creating a real mailbox on the mac? I never created an mailbox or an email address on the server so I'm not sure what it has actually created. But I can send and receive email with it.

edit: the main point is that I want to know if it just creates the mailbox automatically because the mac server is authenticating with the AD domain and just "accepts" it and creates the mailbox on the fly.
