I'm thinking of a system that can be used to report problems to an IT group. When problems are added, the IT group is notified. A very easy to look at list. Something that follows the KISS principles. I'm not talking about a bug management tool and all of the features you'd see there.

I would want to track who the reporter is, date reported, status, description, application, priority...

I would also prefer for this to be a hosted, web based solution.

Thought about it. Stackoverflow maybe. Meta maybe. I think superuser is a good spot for me. I'm getting good answers anyways. – RSolberg Jul 17 '09 at 5:53
Free or paid service? You've probably Googled for one already and found several different options. – Isxek Jul 18 '09 at 20:29

Or if you want some dedicated for support requests, you could always check out Kayako SupportSuite which is used by a lot of website to offer their support.

I have used FogBugz and its nice... But I'm talking about something so easy to use that my Grandma wouldn't need to ask for help :) – RSolberg Jul 17 '09 at 0:57

RSolberg: ARE YOU SAYING FOGBUGZ IS NOT USER FRIENDLY!? – TheTXI Jul 17 '09 at 1:56
Is sending an email to the right address really that difficult? Unless I missed something, you can e-mail tickets to FogBugz... – AnonJr Jul 17 '09 at 1:56
RSolberg: bug management is just another form of issue tracking. They are mostly the same and you could use most bug tracking software to track help-desk issues and requests. – David Pearce Jul 17 '09 at 4:25

UserVoice or Assembla?

(I suppose you are looking for a hosted solution)

Uservoice was used by Stackoverflow prior to the conception of meta.stackoverflow.com - which means it's awesome by default ;) – Jonathan Sampson Jul 17 '09 at 0:44
Definitely hosted, I added the info to my post. – RSolberg Jul 17 '09 at 0:45

I just did some bug testing for a developer who was using Trac. I liked the interface, even though the developer hadn't done a good job of customizing it for his project.

Have you looked at Atlassian's Jira? It isn't free but it worked really well the last time I worked with it. I actually requested to use it here with my current employer, but they only wanted something free.

I really liked Service-now.com. It's not cheap, but it's good.
