Hi I am currently studying for the A+ certification, I plan to have it by the end of this month and I plan to go for farther education. I’ve built two high end computers by myself for a friend and family member. Install OS and everything. I’m looking in to finding either a computer assembly or computer technician job . Where is the best place to look for one? I’ve looked in to best buy but I find their geek squad to be a little bit shady.

Where is a good place to look for a full time entry level computer technician job just starting out in Tampa, FL?

This question really belongs over on www.superuser.com - also you will need to tell us where you live (America? India? New Zealand?) – Mark Henderson Mar 7 '10 at 20:50
Desktop support may belong here, it does seem to fit under the 'many desktop PC' bullet of permitted topics here. – Zoredache Mar 7 '10 at 21:18
the geolocation is embedded in the question although requires some googling - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geek_Squad – rytis Mar 8 '10 at 7:33

Questions on Server Fault are expected to generally relate to servers, networking, or desktop infrastructure, within the scope defined in the faq.

I'd suggest going to geek squad at Best Buy, or Future Shop.

If you can find local computer stores that specialize in selling computer parts, they normally have a service department, where they would be looking for A+ cert people.

Hope that helps!

Local mom-and-pop computer shops, like @Voziv mentioned, are a good option. So could a big-box chain. There's also other franchises. There's also managed-service providers, look up that term for any MSPs near you.

Also, employers of all sizes need entry-level desktop technicians (those that haven't outsourced it anyway). I started 10 years ago as having my A+, and experience with Crystal Reports and MS Access. That got me a job as the #2 (of 2) IT staff at a 100-person company, and I grew from there.
