Unable to use Fink in Mac

Question

Fink's tab completion works.

However, I run

fink update-all

and I get

zsh: command not found: fink

How can you get Fink to work in Mac?

First, check to make sure fink is in your path by typing

which fink

If you receive no output, then try running this command and trying fink again

. /sw/bin/init.sh

If that works, then add this section to your .zprofile

[[ -e /sw/bin/init.sh ]] && . /sw/bin/init.sh

	I put the last code to my .zprofile. It did not load up. This suggests me that something has to be done for the .zprofile. – Masi May 26 '09 at 20:44
	The last code segment would only get run whenever you open up a new shell. Try running ". /sw/bin/init.sh" directly and testing your fink update. – Scott Pack May 26 '09 at 21:07

Is /sw/bin in your PATH? (Also check if it is added in your $(zsh-equivalent-of .profile))
I don't know zsh, but you might check if it requires paths to be rehashed after adding a new element to PATH.

I added: export PATH=$PATH:/sw/bin/: to my .zprofile. How can you rehash your PATH? – Masi May 26 '09 at 20:41

man zsh and searching for "hash" suggests that this is not needed under zsh... In bash you just use "hash" – dmckee May 27 '09 at 1:07
