How you tuning your freebsd router ? Any kernel options , or sysctl :)

FreeBSD routes pretty darn fast right out of the box. The type of physical components of the router will make a much larger difference in packet forwarding capability than any software tweaks.

That said, I always compile my own kernel, with O2 or Os to add a bit of speed.

Personally, my "router" is also a full server. If I wanted to run something like monowall or pfsense, I'd have to setup another box just for routing. But you've got a good point. – Chris S Apr 17 '10 at 1:52
