Outside of SCVMM and Powershell, are there any good utilities for managing a Hyper-V install?

Authorization Manager can be used to regulate administrative access to Hyper-V, as described here. Microsoft also provides a number of other Hyper-V utilities, such as the Offline Virtual Machine Servicing Tool. | |||

A friend of mine installed "Core Configurator 2.0" - http://coreconfig.codeplex.com/ - in his "Hyper-V" machine. "Core Configurator 2.0" is an "Open Source" project (licensed under the free software license "Ms-PL - Microsoft Public License") and according to the home page of the project is "built and designed for Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Core edition". The message in the Main Menu of this GUI application reads "Setup tool for configuring Licensing,Networking and all other components of Windows Server Core 2008 R2" and that main menu includes a button to configure "Hyper-V Settings". If you only have a single server you're wanting to manage (or just a couple and you won't be doing a lot of moving VMs), the built-in Server 2008 MMC tool has everything you need for managing the server. | |||
