I have installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition with Management Tools - Full that includes Visual Studio 2008 shell. I want to rid it out because it hampers my work with Visual Studio 2010.

How can I do that? I need to leave Management Tools - Basic and remove Management Tools - Full.

Check out this Microsoft KB article and see the bottom part on manually uninstalling components of SQL Server if thats what you are after

Run setup (or select 'change' in add/remove programs) and de-select everything but the management tools. Perhaps this isn't working properly if you're not logged into a user with local admin rights?

As documented here - there may be a special case mentioned that matches your environment.

Setup allows only to add new components, not to remove. See my updated post –  abatishchev Aug 16 '10 at 14:50
