I am currently troubleshooting the following issue for a client: The client is running Citrix Presentation Server 4.5. I do not have any additional information in terms of feature packs or the like. Our organization requires that all users who connect to our terminal servers remotely must be authenticated by smartcard. Our smartcards are Athena brand ASEkeys (USB). The smartcard authentication works perfectly when used through remote desktop.
This client's setup is as follows: each user accesses the Citrix server through a thin client. The user plugs the Athena token into the thin client and connects via ICA connection to the Citrix server. From there, the user launches an RDP session to connect to our terminal servers.
Now for the problem. The ICA connection to the server causes the server not to detect/recognize that the smartcard is plugged in. This makes smartcard authentication impossible.
I have set up a test Citrix system on my end to experiment with. I haven't been able to find much documentation dealing with this problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
