Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I would an application to catalogue my servers (less then 100) with short information about hardware and full details about software installed and its configuration. All information will be filled by admins. I am thinking to a simple web application like blog, with an article for every server and using comments for trace software installation, update, configuration, etc. The blog style will be useful for searching ang tagging.

Does anyone know an open source software to do this?

this looks like a task for ocs. It has an agent that fills the database for you, so your admins do not have to get tired ;-)

other option is Asset Tracker for RT. It is integrated in RT, so if you have that already you can have the best of both worlds. It is not the easiest install out there, though, but certainly feasible.

Thanks, but OCS is too complex for my needs. –  lg. Sep 29 '10 at 14:02
