I need urgent help! I got this mail - this is to create a 500GB NAS share.

customer needs:

Here is the information you requested:

  1. We simply need a network share with adequate space. We don’t need it to be mapped to any servers or end users.

  2. We don’t care where the share is physically located as long as it is on a high bandwidth connection and is backed-up regularly.

  3. Access to the share will be regulated by AD security groups.

    • A read only group needs to be created as well…. DSL Users.

    • prefer the share name be SoftLib ===================================== =

What I did is create a file system and named it ufs99, created a cifs share and mounted it on Vdm01. How can I give the user - //nasXX/sharename/filesystem ( how to confirm this)

Please suggest if I am doing the right thing or I have to create a new cifs server, map it to DM, and then go ahead.

Please help me with the steps- any urgent help will be very much appreciated.

It costs nothing to RTFM. – jscott Oct 5 '10 at 18:22
whoever mod-alerted my comment above should be aware that a) I'm a mod, I'm not going to smack my own wrist ok and b) there's a HUGE history between wildchild and this site - check out the main chat room logs from last night where wildchild fully took on board our critisisms. – Chopper3 Oct 6 '10 at 13:35
