My Outlook 2010 syncs (connects with Exchange) perfectly using Outlook Anywhere at home when I am using WiFi. However, when I connect my USB 3g device, I cannot get Outlook to sync at all. The office laptop that I am using has a Windows Vista Business license on it and I cannot upgrade the OS.

When I connect my USB 3g device, I have noticed that Windows Vista lists the default gateway for that connection as 0.0.0.0. From what I have learned on the internet till now is that Outlook needs the default gateway for it to sync using Outlook Anywhere. It appears to me that because my USB 3g device, which gets its IP using DHCP gets a default gateway of 0.0.0.0, I will not be able to sync my Outlook with Exchange when I am using this connection.

Can I somehow change the default gateway? Or change something in Outlook/Vista so that I can sync it over this connection?

Does anything work when you have a gateway of 0.0.0.0? When your 3G is enabled what do you get if you do a traceroute to something like google? – Zoredache Oct 9 '10 at 0:01
Can you get to your OWA site? I know some aircards from certain telcos block certain ports and encryption protocols (such as VPN). It's possible that your 3G provider is doing the same. – gravyface Oct 9 '10 at 0:06
I am able to go to the OWA site through the device as well, normally. When I switch over from that device to Wifi, Outlook syncs perfectly, so its not a settings issue. – Zain Ally Oct 9 '10 at 9:18

This issue is not about outlook. Because a gateway is mandatory for all internet connections to work else your computer don't know where to send the data to be routed. So this error is maybe because of the connection with the 3G being unstable. Do you have an IP address are you able to access internet in a other way. If not contact the compagny providing these services as they don't work.
