Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

We have a need to obtain local numbers throughout the U.S. and worldwide terminated at our US headquarters. It looks like this service is only available when using Voice over IP due to regulations on the PSTN.

Can anyone recommend VoIP aggregator or wholesale services which might provide this?

We would probably need 1000 to 10,000 numbers and be handling about 500,000 minutes a month (i.e. please don't recommend Skype).

We use Prescient.

Along the same lines as Prescient you could also check out companies such as Kall8 (http://www.kall8.com).

I'm going to guess that with the volume you're talking about you'll probably want to talk to someone fairly high up the food chain and cut a deal.

That is a pretty solid volume although there is a big disparity between 1,000 and 10,000 numbers. You need to decide if you're willing to sign a contract for monthly minimums or if the growth will be more organic. With 10,000 DIDs you could probably call Level3 and be playing with the big dogs. If not you could try SimpleSignal or Zayo. They have a big presence here in Denver and I have had good luck with them in the past.

Initial needs are for just over 1000 DID/DDI but have decent growth planned. We have tried working directly with the larger carriers like Level3 and their main competitors, but it's difficult as each has a limited local service area. I would prefer to not become my own aggregator between multiple carriers. –  Doug Luxem Jun 4 '09 at 2:58

We use a company named Televolve for all of our sip trunking and DID needs. I don't know if they are big enough to handle your request, but carlos our support guy knows his stuff inside out. He is also very good about helping you, even if it doesn't mean he gets any more buisness out of it. His email is carlos at televolve dot com. Let him know that Matt from United Christian pointed you his way.
