Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'd like to expose internal blogs through the firewall to google reader, ideally through some form of ip restriction and unguessable url/username+password.

Whats the best solution?

You can use Yahoo Pipes to make a "public" (albeit secret) RSS url to a copy of the feed. Google Reader doesn't support username/password access to secured feeds, whereas Yahoo Pipes does.

It's a hacky workaround, but the only solution I've come up with for myself.
