From searching it appears that there are a good number of Dell PowerEdge R610 users here, so I figured I'd ask if anyone has encountered and resolved this error before I take any more action.

I shut down a (then-functioning) R610 and when I powered it back on, it refused to boot, displaying the message "E2010: Memory not detected. Inspect DIMMs" on the status display.

The only bit of Dell's advice I have followed so far is to disconnect and reconnect power, to no avail. As much as I'd like to open up the chassis and start re-seating DIMMs, I'm just a lowly undergrad research assistant (with an extra dollar an hour of pay for my role as "system administrator") and I need approval before doing that -- so if anyone with experience with this same issue can chime in, I would much appreciate it.

How long was it off for? Is there any chance somebody else may have done something to it in between the time you turned it off and back on? – Ben Pilbrow Oct 23 '10 at 21:34

Also, how old is it? I'm assuming it's out of warranty since you're asking here, but if not - get on the phone to Dell. They know their products better than anybody. – Ben Pilbrow Oct 23 '10 at 21:36
