I am running Ubuntu Server on VMWare server as a Subversion Server, however, my Ubuntu server refuses to auto lease an IP address on startup.

If I type

sudo dhclient

it will usually get an ipaddress, but it won't do this automatically on boot.

Can anyone make some suggestions? I can give further details if necessary.

EDIT: I now have connection on startup after finally managing to compile vm-ware tools myself. I still have one problem though that my box s nolonger recognised by hostname. How do I fix this?

Nope, tried to install but it's having problems with my kernel, says it can't find the kernel source for my current kernel. – Hamid Elaosta Oct 25 '10 at 8:56
