I'm looking for open source (other words something free) storage area network (san) that graphical user interface (GUI) which support iSCSI and has clustering fail over.
What I need the san to do:
The san for Windows Server 2008 Cluster with Hyper-V. The san would need to support min of two server running Hyper-V that has clustering that services 2 to 6 virtual server.
The virtual server will handle around 100 desktop that use profile redirection. Plus some other services and data storage.
The reason I want GUI is because I'm student lab manger for computer science major labs rooms. I know very limit on window server, and far less for Linus. It will be easier for me to setup, but more import the lab manger that that will replace me may not know what a is server. I know sad. However, I want network be able to hand failure of a san, but still be able to use the network. Give the new lab manger times to fix it.
What I have tried/look at:
I look at freeNas - has GUI and iSCSI, but no clustering fail over.
I look at openFiler which support iSCSI and has GUI, but doesn't handle cluster. It seem openfiler cluster mode is currently disabled. So that choice out. So far best choice.
I look at Gluster Storage Platform which support clustering (not fail over for windows it seem or so) and simple GUI. However, doesn't has iSCSI. Sad, I like this one.
I plan on looking at Open-E DSS V6 Lite does support SCSI-3 Persistent Reservation, however still need to look at in more detail.
(Sorry I would post like to all those software I tried, but new user can't post more then one.)
