I am running cPanel/WHM on Apache server and have just installed an SSL certificate for a single domain. Domain/server is on a fixed dedicated IP address. I'm given the 'successfully installed' message when installing the SSL certificate, however when trying to visit the domain using https, the 500 Internal Server Error message appears:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Was it actually a 500 error which you received when accessing the page ? I ask this, since what you posted details that a 500 message was received when attempting to load the Error Page, not necessarily the content itself. – delerious010 Dec 28 '10 at 22:01
I am trying to access the homepage for a website using domain.com and receiving a 500 Internal Server Error. The page itself works fine when visiting it with just standard http prefix – spike5792 Dec 28 '10 at 22:04
I've updated the original post to include the first line of the error. – spike5792 Dec 28 '10 at 22:18
Does apache's error_log have any information about this? Also, is the error page itself encrypted (padlock ok?) – DerfK Dec 28 '10 at 22:27
I've downloaded the raw apache log and can't see anything that clues me into what the problem is. The Error Page itself is encrypted and I'm able to view the padlock/SSL info. – spike5792 Dec 28 '10 at 22:33
