I would like to use Windows 7 at work for my production environment. I think it performs better than Windows XP and Vista on a good PC. How should I go about convincing my boss that Win7 RC is ready for an active development environment?

Duplicate question but I'll repost my answer...

See what the Microsoft Win7 team have to say...

...we know many people (including tens of thousands at Microsoft) are relying on the pre-release builds of Windows 7 for mission critical and daily work...

I guess if it's good enough for tens of thousands of people at Microsoft, it's good enough for you :)

Be aware that the RC will only run for 12months, and you will need to reformat/reinstall. You can probably convince your boss to let you use it, but it's not ready for the "end user" who doesn't have to manage his PC and probably won't reinstall for a few years. Wait for the RTM before installing on their PCs.

Beats me... My guess would be, we're still in the beta (rep whore free-for-all) stage of the site, and you're raining on that parade... – Shog9 May 1 '09 at 5:50

and the answer is don't - wait for the RTM or you will not be able to upgrade or patch your machines in the near future most likely. Also you will have the opportunity to sit on hold for while waiting for premier support to tell you they don't support you if you do and you have a problem
