Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I posted a similar question yesterday but can't seem to find that post. I have installed webmin on my server which has SSL and its service is running but I am unable to open it in browser. I thought may be the port is blocked by server's firewall so I entered port 10000 (TCP - inbound) in APF but still no luck. When I use https://localhost:10000 on server to access webmin then it works fine but not remotely. Why is such a simple thing so hard to run?

Thanks

What do you mean by remotely? Is it possible that there's another firewall in the way? –  Michael Lowman Jan 6 '11 at 12:47

I mean when I try to access it using (example) serverfault.com:10000 from my PC then it doesn't work. I don't think my firewall is blocking. –  Ali Jan 6 '11 at 13:06

Is your DNS working correctly? –  Christian Jan 6 '11 at 13:26

Yes DNS is working. –  Ali Jan 6 '11 at 15:58

I just checked port 10000 on server using "nmap" and it says "snet-sensor-mgmt". Upon searching I found out that this comes from webmin so I guess it is working fine and listening on this port? –  Ali Jan 7 '11 at 5:24
