I am looking for the pros & cons for having the Windows web server and app server on same physical server, keeping the consideration that web server will not be connected to internet and both the servers are in same data centre and no DMZ and firewall inbetween.

The question is awfully vague. What does the app server do? What does the web server do? When you say they will not be connected to the internet, does that mean inbound and outbound? Is this for an internal server only? Are you talking about virtualizing a web server, and an application server, and hosting them both on the same physical virtual host? – Jon Angliss Jan 14 '11 at 14:19
There is a .net based application, which willbe used by internal company users only. There is no concept of VM here, I am just talking about hosting the web server and app server on same physical server only. – Rajeev Jan 14 '11 at 14:54
