Godaddy's grid hosting, which runs on the cloud, just came out last year. I have one of their old shared accounts (your files are on one server), and one of the new "grid" cloud shared accounts.

I'm trying to run a PHPBB installation on the grid hosting, and it's taking an INCREDIBLY long time to even load a forum page - sometimes 30 seconds or more. I never have this problem on the old shared hosting account. I there something about the architecture of their cloud hosting environment that's bad for PHP/MySQL heavy apps, or is it phpbb in general?

I don't have any hosting on GoDaddy myself, I only use them for domain registration however I have been hearing a lot about performance issues. This may be cloud capacity issue they are experiencing.

I'd recommend taking a look at RS, Amazon, Logicworks for more performance driven cloud solutions.
