Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have an ip address 192.168.222.34 which is assigned to me by vpn server.

I am trying to ping (and reach) a server with ip 10.222.222.1 which is in the office.

Its completely unreachable. But from office pc's with the 192.168.222 address it is reachable.

Is there any way to add a virtual adaptor to my computer, but have it work in the vpn context?

The I could assign a 10.222.* ip address to this virtual adaptor?

It sounds like the VPN server doesn't perform LAN routing. What VPN server are you using? –  joeqwerty Jan 27 '11 at 15:10

Standard Microsoft VPN, both server side and client side. –  JL. Jan 27 '11 at 15:12

Is the VPN server configured for LAN routing? –  joeqwerty Jan 27 '11 at 15:18

Honestly, I don't know, and I don't have the expertise to answer this question. –  JL. Jan 27 '11 at 15:24

Well that would be my guess as to the cause of the problem. You probably need to speak to the person who manages the VPN server about getting things working for you. –  joeqwerty Jan 27 '11 at 15:42
