I am building a CentOS 5.5 install disc designed to install on a DRBD device root fs. Everything works fine except I am unable to tell anaconda to recognize /dev/drbd0 as a valid block device for installation.

I have tried symlinks, creating device with same major/minor number, editing the source code of anaconda, etc. I am looking for the simplest solution possible.

So far, I have concluded that this is not working because anaconda makes use of kudzu for hardware detection. Kudzu looks for adapters, then lists the drive associated. This means that the valid block device drbd0 does not get recognized.

Any thoughts anyone ?

Are you configuring drbd in the %pre section of the kickstart file? –  Mark Wagner Feb 3 '11 at 17:11
drbd is active and running. I can mkfs and mount it without any problem. –  m4mush Feb 3 '11 at 17:36
Do you have to specify a device in the kickstart file? What happens if you prepare your filesystems in the %pre-section as well? –  Nils Jun 24 '11 at 19:11
