Server Fault is a question and answer site for professional system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

we use legato networker to backup our infrastructure.

We also use a disc for incremental backups and as kind of 'backup buffer'.

Our data goes to the disc and then we stage it to tapes.

On last week of the month we clone the desired data from tape to tape, changing retention and browse times as desired.

So now, we have a problem. One Tape drive from the library is just gone. This means that we are going to have a big trouble on the last week of this month if we do not fix it.

I attach an image for better understanding.

I can't read your screenshots, please post a higher resolution. Also, what kind of tape library and tape drive do you have? How is it connected (SCSI, Fibre Channel,...)? Are you sure the drive isn't broken? –  SvW Feb 3 '11 at 16:33

Libary is a IBM T4000 , and tape drive i don't know, default one I guess. Both Tape0 and Tape1 are on the same library, and with the same configuration. I think it just desconfigured it self because some changes had been done to try to mount an hitachy storage, but when this changes got reverted the Tape1 dissapeared. –  marc.riera Feb 3 '11 at 17:13
