In the trap message send from the client to the server using net-snmp, the agent address is the first active interface on the client and not the actual eth port on client that is connected to the server.It scans the list of active interfaces, and takes the first found active IPv4 address.

How Can I change the ethernet interface SCAN?

Did you set your listening address in snmpd.conf properly? What do you have assigned to directive agentaddress. – panaroik Feb 14 '11 at 11:11
Everything is set and i am able to get the trap message in the server. I want to know whether the above scanning is the default behavior of net-snmp that it cans the list of active interfaces and takes the first found active IPV4 address – LinuxPenseur Feb 14 '11 at 11:19
i get the following output : 2011-02-11 00:36:37 10.90.91.93(via UDP: [10.100.138.82]:34544) TRAP. In this output message 10.90.91.93 is the first active eth port address and `10.100.138.82' is the eth port of client connected to server. – LinuxPenseur Feb 14 '11 at 11:22
