I've heard that its best to turn Autorun off these days to avoid spreading viruses such as Conficker that can hook into the Autorun on USB-sticks.

Although Microsoft have lots of advice on their website (e.g. kb967715) I'm having trouble doing it on Vista Home Premium because there are no Group Policy settings in that version of Vista.

Does anyone know a good way of doing this?

This article explains how to do it through a registry hack, or the control panel.

Thats about AutoPlay - isn't that slightly different to AutoRun? – codeulike May 1 '09 at 13:29
Though the article refers to autoplay, it means autorun. Autoplay is the ability for media such as CD's to play automaticly on insertion - to start an album or installer etc and is a subset of autorun. Auto run is an application that detects the type of content on the inserted media and runs the correct application – Sam May 1 '09 at 13:39
