I'm trying to replicate something similar to a shared email folder with Google Apps. I have two email accounts setup in Google Apps Premium. The account for "User1" has a folder called "Shared" under the Inbox.

In the other account, "User2", I want to access the "Shared" folder and no others. The main "User" account is collecting mail via Google Apps Sync - the account for "User1" is setup as an IMAP account. I thought I could set the IMAP root folder to "Inbox/Shared" but this doesn't work (Outlook gives an error). If I try to restrict the folder list to just one folder using the "IMAP folders" command in Outlook, but no matter how I try to tie it down, the "Inbox" is always shown.

Does anyone know how to achieve this using Google Apps, Outlook 2007 and IMAP? Or, is there another way to share a single email folder between Google Apps accounts?

You can't share email folders between google apps accounts currently, the only other possible way is to setup a 3rd email account for the shared folder and you then connect both users' email clients to it via IMAP and they can dump shared messages in there

Yep, that's near to what I'm doing - however, using IMAP, both users would see every IMAP folder (eg. Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted) - I only want to see one folder – fistameeny Mar 4 '11 at 12:04

You might want to use a service like GrexIt (http://grexit.com) to share emails between google apps accounts. It provides a feature via which a gmail label can be shared with other inboxes.
