Try this..

@ IN SOA (

Instead of IN SOA (

its already like that: IN SOA ( – Faith In Unseen Things Apr 10 '11 at 18:00

The first argument to named-checkzone is documented to be the zone name thus should not begin with /var/named.

Instead of:

named-checkzone /var/named/ /var/named/

Try this instead:

named-checkzone /var/named/

Strange 'code' root@server [/var/named]# named-checkzone /var/named/ zone loaded serial 2011041002 OK'code' However, the rdns is showing up as servfail when I run a check. – Faith In Unseen Things Apr 10 '11 at 17:55
What check are you running? A cut and paste (with xxx replaced and one PTR added) worked for me locally. dig +short @0 -x returned – Cakemox Apr 10 '11 at 18:27

Remember to update your serials !
