Server Fault is a question and answer site for system and network administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm currently trying to move from a Windows based server to a Linux server. One of the last holdouts on the Windows machine is "Campaign Manager", a software tool that runs a query on our member database, generates a list of emails and then emails them all, tracking bounces and other stats. I'd like to find a good replacement on Linux, but I don't have much experience with mass email software.

Please give me a recommendation of software you have personal experience with.

Answer will be awarded to the reply with the best argument based on experience. I've already run a google search so please don't paste a result. This is for a legitimate mailing list that people subscribe too, don't worry, I'm not a spammer.

If you're not a spammer, and this question is in regards to legit email, then why did you tag it as "spam"? –  EEAA May 20 '11 at 18:30

One of my colleagues uses PHP List. While I installed it for him, I haven't used it myself, but he appears to be quite happy with it.
