I am running Ubuntu Server 8.10. As per a previous question/answer I am upgrading the distro. However when running do-release-upgrade I get the following errors:

Checking for a new ubuntu release
Failed Upgrade tool signature
Failed Upgrade tool
Done downloading
extracting 'jaunty.tar.gz'
Failed to extract
Extracting the upgrade failed. There may be a problem with the network or with the server.

I'm guessing it's because the repos for 9.04 are not available either? I also followed the advice in this question but with that I only get:

Checking for a new ubuntu release
current dist not found in meta-release file
No new release found

How can I fix? I was planning to upgrade as far as 10.04 LTS - can I tell the update manager to upgrade straight to that instead?
