I have an unmanaged unix box setup in a datacenter. I need to install Windows Server 2008 from my ISO I uploaded to another server. I have no idea what I'm doing. Can I partition part of the drive for Windows, or do some virtualized setup?

I was going to ask you the same question as @ErikA, because this would seem like the only way to accomplish it. However, having re-read your question, I'm now not sure whether you want to install some kind of virtualisation software into the existing Unix environment and deploy a virtual Windows server instance, or whether you're talking about partitioning off the drive and copying the contents of your ISO to a bootable partition, and booting and installing from there. But to be honest, the fact that you've said "I have no idea what I'm doing" worries me and I think you should seek help. – Matt May 31 '11 at 6:34

I've installed realvnc server and VirtualBox... does that sound like a decent solution? I'm worried that performance will be sub-par on Windows?
