We use an ERP which uses SQL Server server.

On client computers, ERP software sometimes display an error message "Connection expired". I know this message is related to unestablished SQL server connection, and may be due to a disconnected server.

When this occurs, I click on Computer icon and open/close one mapped drive.

After that, ERP SQL connection is available.

I know there is a way to avoid mapped drives to be autodisconnected, by setting registry keys, and this is what I done. Nothing changed.

So, is there a way to prevent LAN disconnecting, or to force SQL connection to be permanently made?

Update

OK, there is a few ways to reconnect the client, which are:

  • open/close one mapped drive
  • disconnect/reconnect user from his Windows session
  • unplug/plug the Ethernet wire on the NIC.

Actually, I can see connection establishments in CurrPort (on the server), and nothing appens when there is the "Expired Connection" message. After doing one of the methods listed above, TCP 1433 connection is "Established" again.

Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

After researches, even if I try to reconnect computer by browsing mapped drive, Cegid can't connect to SQL server and say "Expired connection delay". I guess it is a Cegid problem... – Velcro Jun 1 '11 at 7:37
