This is a very weird bug. I have installed CentOS 5.5 on many computers. On one of them I have done the reinstallation several times, sinces I wanted to fix a clean install I have installed OpenNebula and it has failed.

Now the latest two times I installed the system I get a black screen on start up. It loads everything as it should, it then says that it loads different thinsg; and after that I see a black screen for a long time that doesn't go away. The partitions were formatted during the installation.

I had the same bug in the previous reinstall. I tried leaving the computer on during the night, but the black screen didn't disappear.

How should this be solved?

Update: I changed the boot settings, booted as USB, escaped the booting, changed back to boot as harddrive.. Now the black screen didn't appear after that XEN had loaded, but instead some configuration setup. After I had quit that tool, the login screen appeared.

Additional comments: Now I installed GIT and Ruby Version manager, and rebooted CentOS. I yet again get the same problem of a black screen. This problem was yet again solved by the above approach.

I have tried to restart two more times with the same result. It occurs regardless on whether I restart with the XEN-alternative or without it. – Anders Branderud Jun 10 '11 at 15:12
