I want to move our old LTO 2 tape drive down in order so our new LTO3 is the primary backup and if for any reason the LTO3 fails then at least I can backup critical data using the LTO2.

I have moved the LTO2 tape drive down to the 2nd plug but neither of them are visible at POST.

I assume I have missed something with either the jumper settings (if I need to do them) or the SCSI ID.

The SCSI card is an LSI Ultra320 2000 series w/1020/1030.

I have also tried with the LTO2 drive connected only to the 2nd termination and the LTO3 disconnected but still not showing in POST.

Sounds like you've simply messed up your SCSI cabling/jumpers/termination - we'll need a LOT more information if you want us to help - do a full braindump ok. – Chopper3 Jun 15 '11 at 12:56

Just everything you can, controller config/settings, physical cabling layout, exact make/model of devices, jumper settings, where any terminators are, server make/model/OS etc. – Chopper3 Jun 15 '11 at 13:10

If the LTO2 was list at POST, the LTO3 should be listed too. Checks that no pin is bended. Use the same cable than the LTO2 Try with and without SCSI terminator(particularly with HP drive)

Does the Two drive from the same manufacturer ? Does the LTO2 works on the 2nd plug ?
