We have 1 terminal server where users log in and can run reports from special Excel files that talk to a SQL database (on another server) via a System DSN. I have also installed a new terminal server, where we are going to migrate half the users. On the new server, I created a copy of all the System DSNs as setup on the first terminal server. However when I try to run the excel report, I get a "ODBC Datasource unavailable" error. Any ideas if I missing a specific permission issue after creating the System DSNs? Another odd thing is that even the domain administrator cannot access the System DSNs.

Both terminal server's in question are Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2. Excel v2007.

found the solution. TL;DR version: Look at C:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe. – Archit Baweja Jun 15 '11 at 18:48
