I have been asked to look into rpath as an option for doing our deployments in the future. We currently have various java webapps running in tomcat and jboss which we deploy using a mixture of rpms and tarballs.

My question is: In what situations have people used rpath, has it worked out well and what alternatives are there?

Cheers,

Tim.

Perhaps a link to the rpath you're talking about would be helpful so that people don't get confused. –  Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams Jun 16 '11 at 11:21

Good idea, I have updated the question with the link. –  tim harrison Jun 16 '11 at 11:40

I haven't worked with rpath but, take a look at Varalogix Q I know it works with JBoss and Tomcat. It's designed for Web Application Deployment.
