ESXi doesn't support USB passthrough of keyboards or mice because it seems like the hypervisor will take control of it automatically as indicated by VMWare docs.

I have a special case where I need to give a guest VM keyboard and mouse control. Has anyone ever tried to use PCI passthrough on a PCI USB card to a guest VM and then plug a USB keyboard and mouse to that VM via the PCI card that has the USB slots? Would this work?

Any other solutions would also be helpful but I need to directly hookup a mouse and keyboard so using the viewer or something similar is not possible.

Can you describe what you're actually trying to achieve please, there may be other ways around this. – Chopper3 Jul 22 '11 at 11:45
