I am really having a hard time finding a good anti-virus solution for Microsoft Servers. I think a decentralized solution would be easier if our number of servers ever grew to 30, 50 or even hundreds.

It seems there are a few providers like Kasperfly, NOD, ESET32 that offer server-licenses, but they have no managed solutions. There is no free anti-virus available for Windows server, except via hacks (AVG, Security Essentials).

It also seems that Microsoft and Symantec are the most popular solutions. Can people recommend me why they have choosen one over the other?

"NOD32" is made by a company named "ESET". ;) Can you clarify your meaning of 'managed solution'? – techie007 Jul 24 '11 at 18:09

We use Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 RU6 and it has worked very well and is easy to manage and deploy clients remotely. Very granular management of clients and groups and also can manage applications and devices to add another layer of security. Great reporting and alerting as well

Early versions were not so good. Make sure you look at 11.0.6300 or perhaps 12.1 12.0 is a special Small Business Edition with less function. I believe there is a trial available.

Version 12.1 has just relased and it sounds like a major upgrade. Better spyware and other malware protection. We will likley will deploy here later this fall
