I'm currently running Windows Vista Business SP2 and IIS7.

I've been attempting to install additional features like CGI to no avail. The install locks up at the Please Wait while the features are configured window.

Failing that, I tried to uninstall IIS7 so I could use Apache on port 80. IIS7 is hogging port 80 and I can't figure out how to turn it off.

I'm trying to uninstall through the Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features On/Off but the whole thing locks up at Please Wait while the features are configured window and stays that way forever. I am forced to go to Task Manager to shut down OptionalFeatures.exe.

I Googled this but I did not find any answers. I've also tried the command line pkgmgr.exe to uninstall but it locks up when I press return.

I have a bad feeling IIS7 is corrupted. I set up an new Administrator account but I get the same issue.

I would just re-install the operating system but that is not an option for me as I'm running Windows Vista Business OEMAct and they don't provide an install disk.

UPDATE: I was finally able to stop IIS and free up Port 80. This has allowed me to install Apache and PHP. I was hoping to use IIS7 and PHP with FastCGI but that component will not install. – Greycrow Jul 24 '11 at 18:10
