We have a DPM 2007 server backing up a single instance of SQL Server 2008 R2. This server has four databases on it, all of which are under the same protection group. We have not been able to resolve an issue where one or more of the databases will not backup, seemingly at random. The following error message appears (curly brackets replaced actual values):

"Recovery point creation jobs for SQL Server 2005 database {db name} on {sever} have been failing. The number of failed recovery point creation jobs = 47. (ID =3114)

DPM Failed to perform the operation because too many objects have been selected. Select fewer objects and the retry this operation. (ID 46 Details: The stub received bad data (0x800706f7))"

The closest match for this error I could have had to do with full-text indexing, which none of the databases have. I've also checked to make sure SQL Sever VSS was running, and I didn't see a problem with that.

Running CHECKPOINT on the databases with errors seems to resolve the issue, but I don't know why the problem exists in the first place so I can prevent it in the future. Any ideas?

Thanks!
