For the purpose of automating managed VMware tools install there is an API from VMware. I looked at their documentation and found this method: mountToolsInstaller

I was hoping to build a golden image for Linux and to include the vmtools installation from a kickstart file when the OS is built.

Anybody came across something similar with sample code?
