The only difference between the two is the video cards. When I move the video cards from the machine that does not boot via PXE to the machine that does boot via PXE, the second machine no longer boots. The video cards are all ATI 5xxx and 6xxx series cards. The drivers are the latest 11.8 Catalyst drivers for x86_64 from ATI.
The failure mode is that I get this message on the PXE server:
mountd[1851]: authenticated mount request from 10.1.1.101:835 for /nfsroot-miner-002 (/nfsroot-miner-002)
and on the booting machine, the progress stops right after:
Begin: running /scripts/init-bottom ... done.
I have tried moving the hard drive from machine one to the server, exporting it via NFS. The failure mode is the same. If I put the hard drive back in the system, it boots just fine.
I would like a way to turn on more debugging for nfs on the server as well as any debug spew I could enable on the booting machine to try to narrow this down. All machines are running 11.04 x86_64.
