I have been messing with a tmpfs and have been seeing very slow read/write speeds for the tmpfs. (10-50MB/s) The output of free -m is:

             total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:          2043       1219        823          0          7        449
-/+ buffers/cache:        761       1281
Swap:         3999        347       3652

Even with "free" being 823MB and the tmpfs only being 200MB the tmpfs seem to be using the HDD exclusively. What am I doing wrong?
