Hoping someone can help me identify where my problem lies.

I am trying to use Outlook 2011 on the Mac to connect to email accounts hosted on a Debian Lenny server running postfix and dovecot(v1). I've never had any problem with any other mail client connecting to this server however Outlook just plainly refuses to show the account folders. It doesn't seem to make a bit of difference what settings I change in Outlook, whether SSL/TLS is on or off, whether IMAP OR Pop even!

And from what I can see in dovecots log, the connection is made and authenticated but no errors showing up.

So if anyone could help identify what the cause of the problem is that would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

You might try posting the logging and/or any errors from Outlook as well. – user48838 Sep 6 '11 at 13:00
Unfortunately there are no errors being produced. And the logging that is supposed to be produced when switched on doesn't appear to exist either. I read it was supposed to go to the desktop. – Dave Sep 7 '11 at 11:15
What is the logging on the Dovecot logs? – user48838 Sep 7 '11 at 15:18
You know I may have found the issue, it looks like outlook is actually sending the mail account username in uppercase!!?? Why on earth would they do that.... – Dave Sep 9 '11 at 11:37
You might verify the Outlook configuration or maybe create a test account on Dovecot in all upper case to assess the result. – user48838 Sep 10 '11 at 0:00
