I am trying to connect a MS Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 machine (the OS with just a command prompt and settings panel) to a VPN Network and I can't get round to it.

I have tried using Rasdial but the command is not recognized. Also, the phonebook file is not to be found in the server installation, neither the systemroot\System32\Ras or the userprofile\appdata\roaming\microsoft\network folders.

Any ideas on how to connect or set up a VPN in this OS?

Do you mean Server Core? Hyper-V is a role available on multiple editions of 2008R2. – jscott Sep 8 '11 at 10:22
I am referring to the actual Hyper-V server 2008R2, not the Hyper-V role. – AlinE Sep 8 '11 at 10:35
very strange request, quite sure it won't work without external equipment, but I've been wrong before.. does everything on the same network need a vpn to a remote site etc.. if so is each one creating a vpn connection? I wouldn't I'd just have an external router create the tunnel for you. – tony roth Sep 9 '11 at 4:18
