when I want to start DirectAdmin on an ubuntu vps I get the following error:

Starting DirectAdmin: /usr/local/directadmin/directadmin: error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [ FAILED ]

I understand that libssl.so.6 should be installed with libssl-dev package and libssl-dev is installed but again the problem persists.

Solutuion: Well I managed to somehow resolve the issue myself by renaming the libssl.so which already existed in the shared libraries path to libssl.so.6.
DirectAdmin seems to be working fine with that tweak.

Hey, Hamed. It appears to me that you need to downgrade you directadmin CP. It may solve the problem. Cause it has been an issue over a month with the new DirectAdmin 1.345 on CentOS 64bit. –  Ghazanfari Sep 18 '11 at 7:37
