I'm a newbie system administrator. I am currently managing the internet connection for a college and have decided to use zeroshell.

My problem is that when I plug the zeroshell box into the network, I could not connect when the dhcp server is deactivated, even if i set my IP manually.

When I turn the dhcp server on, there seems to be no problem.

You need to not only set your IP address correctly, but also your subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS resolvers need to be set correctly as well.
